Canary people

As part of my EVS project I have to promote the voluntary work and the program Youth in Action. So yesterday I had a presentation in the Nautica Faculty of ULL. I would say that it was pretty successful because some of the students were really interested and asked for the summer exchanges as they are in the middle of their studies and still can’t leave everything and participate in EVS.
After the presentation I went with the coordinator in the cafeteria to have one refreshing coffé and we join three boys which were on the first row on my presentation. They were really happy to practice their english and asked me a lot of questions. As they had a free day they were so nice to show me a lot of pictures of ships and explain me really interesting things about them, they also made a guided tour around the faculty and Santa Cruz and told me a lot of interesting historical facts that are not mentioned in the books about the history of Canary Islands and Tenerife.
My new friends Nelson and Jesus
After we had lunch in the faculty cafeteria, which was really good, we went in one museum which is located underground. There we saw the ancient walls of the old fortress of Santa Cruz and the Tiger cannon - which may be took the hand of the famous vice-admiral Horatio Nelson in the battle for protection of Tenerife. In this museum we stayed around two hours even it is really small. First the guys explained me some interesting facts and after this they were so nice to do this with french couple. After this they started to explain this thing to one englishman, who occurred that has as a hobby the history, so we had one really long and nice conversation about canary and world history. This really remind me how much I love the history and why I spent last six years in the history faculty of Sofia University.
During this day these boys showed once again how open and nice are the canary people. How they are enjoying the live and sharing it with the others even if they don’t really know them. I knew it before but now I am sure that one day after the end of my project I will come back here to live not only for the sun, but also for the such a nice local people.
El Tigre

We finished the day on the central place where all of the young pople in Santa Cruz are relaxing and enjoyng the view.

"Mascarita, ponte tacón"

The last friday of the carnaval in Puerto de la Cruz there is a race between men dressed like women on very high hills. I wasn’t expected that this will be the most interesting night. instead of competing they were making show and it was so funny. Of course I made so many pictures that the battery of my camera died in the middle of the race but nevertheless I think I have the most interesting and creative costumes. You can take a look and also of my costume which was the coolest one this evening, even cooler than the clown.

Carnaval

Well what can I say it was more than amazing to be part of this, even tieredful. It is just something that you HAVE TO DO. I have no idea how exactly the local people are parting every year for week and a half almost every day. This event was pretty big and shiny but this you can see from the really small quantity of pictures that I am putting here, from the carnaval I have around 1000 photos :)
The carnaval is celebrated during february every year and finish when it starts the Easter Lent. Maybe that's why it it pretty crazy due to the costumes you can see here. Interesting fact also is that most of the men are dressed like women and the other part of them like super heros. It was really funny to see all of this costumes and communicate with all of the people in their carnaval mood - even more open and really funny, always ready for photo.
Even after I have the chance to live this carnaval here which is so big I still dream to go and see the one in Rio de Janeiro some day. I hope that I will come back again on the Canary Islands carnaval.

¨Lazy day¨

Well after the carnaval finished with the last saturday evening big party I was so tired and said to the girls that I just want to relax. As the weather was so good Marie convinced me that today we should go to the beach. We joined Tanja and Brendan and went on one really beautiful beach. But the problem was that to go to this beach you have to hike around half an hour. Ok the view worth it.

Well the surprise came after this when Brendan said that we have to go on the other end of the beach, there was no sand only big rocks on which I had to walk barefoot as I wasn't with my hiking shoes and it was saver, but really hurtful.
to pass by this rocks I had to crawl almost and use more my hands as it was slippery and scary for me. The biggest challenge was when we had to climb one rock supporting on one rope. This was so horrible for me I have never done this before and it was really hard for me.
Well it was really a nice day and the beach was magnificent, but now I have stiffness in my hands and my feets heart. So this was the story about my good friends who ensured me a ¨relaxing lazy day on the beach¨.

Cooking workshop

Finally after few months I started my personal project during my EVS - International cooking workshop. Of course on the first one I cooked bulgarian food - Musaka and Pumpkin with honey, walnuts and canela. It was really funny and I think that everybody enjoy it :)

The greatest thing is that this will be weekly activity so next time we are continuing with Italian food, and after this we have also Canarian, Spanish, Polish, Hungarian, German, Austrian, Mexican, Chilean, etc. I can't wait forward to learn how to prepare dishes from all of the countries and some more interesting facts about their countries.

5 Months in the Biggest Adventure of my Life

As you understand in my previous post half of my project obviously somehow past. Yes it was more than amazing but really I don't feel it like I've been here 5 months. It feels more like 1 month. And the craziest part is that I have only 4 months here till the end of May and unfortunately I guess it will pass even faster, that's why I've decided that I will enjoy even more every second here. Don 't think that I didn't enjoy my time till now it's that in the beginning was much more harder because when you are speaking all the time two foreign languages in the afternoon already you are so deadly tired that the day is kind of shorter. Buy now it is a lot easier and I can speak english and spanish all the time without stopping and all the time changing and passing from one to the other.
For this 5 months I have experienced so many new things - I found a lot of new friends, I discovered not only the Canarian culture and the spanish language, but also most of the European countries and some of Latin America. Maybe this make Tenerife so magnificent and attractive for me because here you can find one unique mixture of cultures and people from all over the world.
I already have to start thinking what I am gone do after the end of may because after the end of the project the life is continuing but I am not sure if I have the same priorities like before. This experience here help me a lot to grow up and maybe find myself. So for now I have plans only for the summer and in october I will be again in the same situation - to choose from the sea of opportunities in front of me and decide.
But for now as you now I have four month more here that I want to enjoy, so I won't torture myself with thoughts for the future, just because you never know what will happen in the next moment. One thing that I know for sure is that the life is unpredictable and the things that have to happen are occurring in the right moment, so step by step, enjoying my presence someday I will arrive in my future, whatever it is.
